Re: DFAM audible click noise

There should be no bleeding from Adv/Clock input to the VCA-EG. Is the click also there if you manually trigger the DFAM at the same speed? If so, then maybe try setting VCA-EG to slow helps.

Re: M32 into DFAM Assignable insanity

According to the DFAM and M32 manuals, that's indeed the way to do it (assignable output to #2 clock to adv/clock on the DFAM), so it's probably something else, and that's difficult to diagnose without seeing what else is going on.. I'd suggest to start simple, remove all other connections to/from t...

Re: Ext Audio

TRS doesn't carry phantom power, so you should be fine. The white noise is something that can happen if you pull out the driver side of a patch cable. The open cable acts as a pick-up, sometimes that can even be used as a signal source, for example by tapping the tip of the TRS cable with a finger. ...

Re: Ext Audio

Connecting inputs to inputs usually has no consequences, assuming you did not connect phantom power (48V) in some way or another.

Re: MAVIS - Sample & Hold is inverted?

Not sure what kind of scope you're using, but here's what comes to mind to check first: - if you're using separate probe cables, each with 2 clips, make sure that the probes both have the same ground and one is not swapped - depending on the scope's capabilities, make sure that you've not set it up ...

Re: Matriarch patch not matching what I saw in video.

If it doesn't sound as echo-y as in the video, that's probably due to an echo, delay or reverb effect that's not mentioned. Happens a lot in videos showcasing a synth or a patch. As with any analog synth, there is some variation in the components. That causes identical dial settings on two synths no...

Re: DFAM & Korg SQ-64 - Velocity voltage?

You can pump up the volume and snap by patching VCA-EG out to VCA-CV in. Effectively, this doubles the VCA envelope.
Caveat: there is some risk of clipping if the internal signal path is already close to maxed-out... so you may have to dial back the VCO1/VCO2/NOISE-EXT level a bit.

Re: Integrating the DFAM with a Eurorack modular system

Indeed, to run the DFAM from an external sequencer, the ADV/CLK input is used, and you need to press RUN to make it go. The good point about this is that this allows you to still start and stop the DFAM when it's clocked by a continuously running sync output from e.g. another synth. For the control ...

Re: Keeping Track of patches / music ideas?

For my DFAM, I use copies of the empty preset diagrams in the manual and pencil in the settings. It doesn't have to be super accurate as it's an analog synth, so its sounds are subtly different anyway depending on it being warmed up or not.

As for the login behavior of this forum; yes, I'm also automatically logged out after a couple of days. But I don't have to prove that I'm a robot when I login again. Maybe because I'm not deleting history every time that I close all my browser windows. I'm also on the Korg forum, and logins there l...

Re: DFAM & Korg SQ-64 - Velocity voltage?

The VGA EG has a toggle switch for fast/slow. Not sure whether the external velocity bypasses this, but setting it to fast might help. As for the voltages, it's interesting to see that velocity is the only CV input with 0 to 5V range, while all others are either -5V to +5V or 0 to 8V. Could this be ...

I'd start checking the patch bay, and my first suspect would be the tempo patch point.

Re: 1/4" to 3.5mm cable

Stereo to mono adapters usually have resistors (e.g. 10K Ohm) built in to passively sum the right and left channel. This may be in the way of what you're trying to do.

Re: Subharmonicon Rhythm

There's a trick to have the DFAM do less than 8 steps, by patching PITCH to TEMPO and setting the pitch dials of the ones you want to keep at minimum, and the ones you want to skip to maximum (also set velocity to minimum on the steps to skip). Downside is that you'll lose the pitch lane for shaping...

Re: Dfam broken synth or fake YT tutorial

Beyond the very analog nature of the DFAM that will make every unit sound a bit different, and some patches being extremely sensitive to the slightest difference in settings, there's for sure something going on in that video sound-wise. Maybe it's the way it's recorded, or maybe there's some equaliz...
