I've been trying for a while but can't get any sound nor sequence to play from the beatstep.

I used the CV out from the beatstep to the VCO exp FM in on the Werkstatt, and the gate out from the beatstep to the gate in, but no luck.
What am I doing wrong? I never used CV so I am total beginner. Thanks
