Re: Issues with Minitaur panel settings - overwritten?

Sorry karbn, I tried but could only partially reproduce your problem. setting Local Control to Off and scrolling thru presets using the shift panel combo gives very similar results than the problem your facing but I can't explain why you seems stuck that way. Sorry I couldn't help with that (sadly) ...

Re: Issues playing Thermini with a live band...

I certainly don't want to discourage you (or anyone) from attempting to play theremin in a live band setup but common sense would suggest that it should be almost impossible. Many have done it before us but don't set your expectations too high. In a classical, everyone else sitting on a chair contex...

Re: Issues with Minitaur panel settings - overwritten?

But then I noticed that my Decay & Sustain knobs no longer have any effect! 2 knobs not doing anything at all while others are fine sounds scary (looks more like an hardware problem than a firmware bug). If it was only drone mode while the sustain knob seemed to work normally, my guess would ha...

Re: Issues with Minitaur panel settings - overwritten?

< deleted > Late Edit : Local Control would indeed make a minitaur behave that way but that wouldn't be enough to explain why it remained that way after reinstalling the firmware (I've retested on my minitaur and simply unpowering it was enough to have it reset to Local Control On) Extremely sorry a...

Re: Issues playing Thermini with a live band...

Hi I never tried the theremini but hopefully my experience with etherwaves can help a bit. About the volume, I don't know if there's a parameter that can be set to allow controlling the volume with the knob when using the 1/4 output but if not, I know a theremin player who adds a guitar volume pedal...

Re: Please help! Etherwave acting very strange all of the sudden.

Hi (sorry about the late reply, I hope you've fixed that by now or haven't given up. the thereminworld.com forum might have helped) It seems that you've reach the point were you need to adjust the 3 internal variable inductors with the tiny red tool that should have been provided with your theremin ...

Re: OK to use both USB & MIDI with Sirin?

Should not cause any problems. I can imagine possible conflicts trying to run 2 sequencers in parallel (using a computer thru USB and an external controller thru the standard MIDI port) or sending program changes messages from both at the same time but nothing worst than having a program change bein...

Re: Tuning Minitaur

I want to add a bit about tuning and calibration. mostly hoping to get corrected if I'm wrong than claiming any authority on the subject. unless the synth doesn't track well within the notes range you use it for, a specific note is off while others are fine or it is so off that the fine tune knob ca...

Re: Tuning Minitaur

Hi on my units, it seems that the calibration process always end up being about 2 cents sharp over the whole range no matter what the fine tune knob position was before starting the calibration (your -15° suggest a similar offset). 2 cents ain't that far off but I usually take the time (less than a ...

Re: Panel Settings and preset 000

I believe that the simplest solution would be moving every presets 1 slot up to avoid using preset 0 on the Minitaur. From my understanding, preset 000 on the Minitaur can be saved / overwritten but not loaded. As in, you can save a preset in that slot and then move it to an other slot using the edi...

Re: Using Keystep to control the Minitaur through CV

(rephrasing a bit) sending very high voltage in the CV connectors could definitely fry your Minitaur but unless your Keystep is severely broken, it should not be possible to break your Minitaur hooking it to a Keystep even if the Keystep is not properly calibrated. the notion of 'very high voltage' ...

Re: Using Keystep to control the Minitaur through CV

Sending voltages slightly above 0-5v (0-10v) or slightly below (-5v) won't break your Minitaur but won't allow you to go beyond its note range limit. I don't own a keystep but I've been sending voltages slightly above and bellow 0-5v from my theremin on a daily basis for over 2 years without any not...

Re: Sirin and Minitaur

I’m also interested to hear if there are differences in the bass registers. There are differences in the bass registers of the Minitaur and Sirin (Minitaur goes lower, way too low). Sirin is hard locked to MIDI note 16 (about 20 Hz, 1 octave bellow a 4 string bass). Minitaur can go as low as MIDI n...

Re: Minitaur skipping midi notes

You seems to be describing exactly how a Minitaur with poly mode on (and max voices set to 2) should behave. In that case, the 'Setup' tab in the editor would allow you to fix that.

Re: Sirin drone mode doesn't always work.

(the file I just linked and example I posted were for the Minitaur. For Sirin, the product id needs to be 18 instead of 08 ). Pot Calibration: (for Sirin) Set all panel pots to minimum, then send: F0 04 18 14 00 00 F7. Set all panel pots to maximum, then send: F0 04 18 14 01 00 F7. Set VCO2 Freq and...
