Re: Voyager with a theremin

Does it have midi? Or is that only on the claravox? No, the Etherwave does not have MIDI (that would requires digital signal processing). On paper, the Claravox does have MIDI but I've never tried it so I can't tell how good it works. With the Etherwave, you set the 'root note' with a MIDI controll...

Re: Voyager with a theremin

So does Moog call thier newest theremin the moog ether wave theremin? Does it have the correct amount of cvs to connect to a moog voyager? I read it used things from the ether wave plus I think. Yes, the new (2022) Etherwave is simply called Etherwave Theremin and now includes the 'plus upgrade' (C...

Re: Best theremin for a beginner

I also was wondering if you could sit down while playing? Yes! I never do but that should reduce the effect of unconscious movements to keep your balance while playing and would greatly improve your stability (just a bit less fun, probably a worthy trade off but I'm a bit stubborn). edit: https://w...

Re: Voyager with a theremin

It seems that after some reading a person would have to have a theremin with two cv outs to use with a voyager. The theremini has only one. The higher end theremins would be needed and that utilize two cv outs Correct, the Theremini does not have dedicated CV outs for each antennas. Would needs 2 t...

Re: Best theremin for a beginner

That's too many questions ;) I'll answer a few and will leave links to the user manuals that should help you with most others. What do you use for an amplifier? No need for a special amplifier. At home I use almost exclusively headphones and when playing with others, I use my bass amp (any guitar or...

Re: Best theremin for a beginner

I was wondering excluding that model which theremin would you choose for your first theremin I'm no expert (and don't even own a Theremini) so take my opinion for what it's worth but for beginners, I'd strongly recommend the Theremini. Not for its 'training wheels' features (pitch quantization that...

Re: Reading audio from a usb synth(Minitaur)

Sorry, Minitaur can't transmit audio via USB. Its audio signal path is purely analog (unlike its control signals that have a solid digital layer mixed in). If you want to send digital (USB) audio from your Minitaur, you'll need an analog to digital converter. An external computer sound card with a 1...

It is only a small (macOS focused) editor update. No changes to the firmware.

Re: LFO Clock Divider...Dumb Question.

to my surprise, moving the LFO rate knob while MIDI sync is on only updates the value shown in the editor in real time on my Sirin. On my Minitaur, it only updates it when I close and reopen the editor. My Sirin's LFO knob is correctly outputting CC3 (LFO rate) and CC86 (clock divider) when MIDI syn...

Re: LFO Clock Divider...Dumb Question.

When MIDI Sync is on, the clock divider is controlled by the LFO Rate knob. I don't think there is a default value for that parameter (I could be wrong, I don't have much experience with MIDI Sync).

That's a very good news. I'm happy it wasn't an hardware problem as I had suggested.

Re: Can you edit Minitaur's CC implementation?

.. late comeback to my slightly out of nowhere SysEx post about MIDI CC mappings. Mostly to add too much context and minimal warnings (nothing that can't be fixed using that SysEx, the actual reason I posted here the above info). So first, I agree with MC that remapping CCs directly on the Minitaur ...

Re: Etherwave plus - upgrade or new instrument and where to buy?

I don't have any tools to objectively measure how much simplicity the plus upgrade takes away but Etherwaves seems more difficult to calibrate with the CV module than without. Before ordering an upgrade kit for my first theremin, I managed to calibrate it for a D0 - A3 playable range (sounds so awfu...

Re: Etherwave Plus: mic stand interference and tuning tips

I hope the etherwave has not been discontinued, seems like it's just a rumour (at least based on a quick google search). The claravox is indeed a limited edition and there seems to have been problems with the deliveries because of pandemic electronic component shortages that seemed to have also affe...

Re: "Goofy" sounding presets when running w/ hardware sequencer

have you tried messing with the Load Preset Mod Wheel global setting? (setup tab of the editor) I have never encountered the problem your describing and the way you're phrasing it suggest you've already tried that option but I'm curious. Sorry if this doesn't help. (there is also a MIDI SysEx that c...
