The apogee duet is pretty amazing, but a super-nice preamp will change your life. think API, Great river, Pacifica, Neve, et al. Expensive, but worth every penny if you want stuff to really sound thick and like it should. The better your signal going into your converters, the better your recordings ...

yep, it's real

I got to play on it for a bit at NAMM, and i was more than impressed. not one to be wowed very often, (and also not really a guitar player) the moog guitar did all sorts of magical stuff that i've always wanted to be able to do. (but all with no effects pedals) it's quite awesome, and i'm glad we li...

Somebody could make a killing off expression pedals if they made a tough one for less than an EV-5.
I use Ev-5's only because there's not much else and the Moog ones (or whatever company really makes them) ALWAYS break. i have gone through 5 of them in a few short months. that's ridiculous.

It remains to be seen if the Prophet 8 kills Voyager sales. Why would a synth newbie pay over $3,000 for a monophonic Voyager when they can buy an 8 voice Prophet 8 for $2,000? Unless you have to have a Moog, it just doesn't make sense not to purchase the P8. I doubt that a synth newbie would buy a...

It depends on the weather how long my Phatty takes to get stabilized. When it's nice and warm out, it takes maybe a minute or two. But I took it out on tour in february and I'd always set it up before everything else to give it enough time to warm up. I've gotten in the habit of just turning the fin...

I would really recommend checking out the murf and the freqbox. the freqbox's tracking is so responsive, it basically turns your synth into a whole new animal. i feel that there aren't any good demos of it online, which is a shame. it really does much more than the demos let on. same with the Murf. ...
