Thanks - how would I connect something like the EP3 to my computer then if I want a range of input?

I think I have the 3rd Gen Oxygen 49. Connected EP-3 to the sustain input and it behaves weirdly. When I can get it to work at all (switching polarity, etc.) and tweaking with calibration knob, I can at best get either 0 or 127, but nothing in between. I'm a newbie and maybe I need a better keyboard...
