For a step sequencer, I like to use Thesys by Sugar-Bytes. It's pretty powerful.

I like the Barbetta or Mackie powered pa cabs. The guitar amps are voiced a bit midrangey which is great for guitars but not as good for keys. I'm not that familiar with using bass amps. I have heard a lot of good things about the Rolands, but I have had no experience with them.
