Re: Moog SUB PHATTY

Wow. This is more "inspired" by hooshirn than a response to it. I remember reading somewhere once that an Arp 2600 was, when it was new, about the same price as a VW Bug. It's seems about right, as a new VW SuperBeetle around 1973 was about $2,400 or so. Now I know that a 2600 is a big big...

Re: prototype

What do we lose here using this trick of putting a pedal jack, or simply a dummy plug/adapter into the GATE CV vs. using something like e.g. the Voyager's External/Keyboard switch? Just the old "use a pedal in a jack to keep it on Sustain" fix. The answers might be here in the older posts...

Re: prototype

Back to the topic... :) Well, I've posted several variants of this theme on this forum over the years. Seems like Moog forgot about the serious droners again! I can't see it from the various photos or the video, but I'll bet you anything that there's no "always on" option. Ain't there on t...

Re: Best interface for SW synths w/ a Mac?

I've used an ancient M-Audio Oxygen 25 for years. I used the 25 because it was portable, but it only has 8 knobs, plus mod and pitch wheel. Also, they aren't endless rotary. I use this with the G-Force Oddity (an Odyssey emulator). Works fine. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Oxygen25.html You ...

Re: Is Minitaur playable as a stand-alone unit without keybo

Thanks to panaroma1003 for posting and for everyone who replied. I have always wondered why either the Phatty or the new Minitaur did not include the little switch for Envelope/Organ/On (as found on ancient things like the MG-1 or the newer Vermona Lancet). Or the ancient Odyssey Initial Gain slider...

Hi, theglyph

If you search the 'Fooger forum, you can find many old threads where people wish for the same thing. You'll even find some lovely Photoshop mockups in there that wishful thinkers have designed.

Re: Moog to Debut new instrument NAMM 2012

I'm going to go out on a limb and here's my guess. Remember the contest says that the instrument is "awesome." I'm not sure an RME Taurus qualifies completely for the "awesome" tag. With the apps, Moog has shown a capacity to do nice digital modeling of the analog sounds. So I'm ...

Korg Monotribe

Okay, I just did a search to make sure someone else didn't post this topic first. :) http://korg.com/uploads/Images/monotribe_MAIN_634375269280760000.png Some other synth forums are already either abuzz or aflame over this one. I'd be curious to know peoples' likes/dislikes. For a product no one's s...

Re: Can you drone with the Phatty?

Thanks for the reply, Sir Nose and EarSmack.
Does that method enable you to attenuate the signal that comes out, as you would be able to do with an initial gain pot? Or at this point you control volume with the main output of the Phatty?

Can you drone with the Phatty?

Hi, I'm thinking about getting a Slim Phatty. I've read through the manual online and I can't figure this out after reading it. I'm used to synths where the VCA has an "initial gain" control where you can get a sound out of the synth without the VCA being triggered by ADSR and just let the...

Re: MG-1 vs. Rogue.. which to get?

I'd go back to the person's original question: I am making mostly space/new age type music Not sure if you are a keyboard player or not, in the sense of using the keyboard more than the knobs and sliders. I've never used a Rogue, but I've used an MG-1. I'm more of a knob and slider person than a key...

Here's another take on how a Frequency Shifter works. Grey box halfway down this page: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan02/articles/synthsecrets0102.asp Bode also made them in a rack-mount version. They were highly prized in academic electronic music studios, like Columbia-Princeton, back in the d...

Re: looking at guitar looping pedals to use with the LP

I'm partial to the Line 6 DL4. Not cheap either. And I've found it's hard to be precise with the looper part of the pedal. But the looper is great for simulating good old fashioned tape delay. And some folks complain in other Forums that they break easily. Not such great recommendations :) But I sti...
