I appreciate the response, however long it took. I asked the question, because the old preset synths by Moog and ARP both predated the now-standard microprocessor-controlled RAM by eight years, and it is real interesting. It kind of reminds me of the journey to MIDI, everybody trying different thing...

Just discovered Little Phatty a few days ago...

I just discovered the long-implored, new "budget Moog" synth a few days ago. At first, I wasn't too interested, since I initially didn't spot the LCD display in the upper left-hand corner. Is the thing supposed to have patch memory storage, after all? That'd be one reason for me to want on...

I'm sorry, but I simply don't get the merritt of playing a Moog while intoxicated - with the obvious exception of how the bloody thing can lift your spirits while you're playing it. There definitely is something about the Moog name that carries more than just a sound.

I think it's a question of wanting something that can do everything soundwise that the Nord Lead can do. They could do with a Minimoog D, Memorymoog or Source, but they wouldn't settle for a Micromoog, Prodigy, Liberation, Rogue or Concertmate MG-1. They don't want cheap, so they go without Moog.

Ad for local music store

I just saw the end of an ad for Alto Music of New York, the place where I most often go to check out gear. One of the last frames of the ad was of the Minimoog Voyager Performer Edition that I always played each time I went there, up until July '05.

Memorymoog Editing Capabilities

Could someone please break down the editing capabilities of the Memorymoog for me? I've read that it's got individual VCF controls for each voice. Can each voice be edited as in the Oberheim 4- and 8-voice models, or not that in-depth?

For what it's worth, you can sort of use the JX-10 to simulate the sound of the Minimoog Model D, albeit with the 3rd osc. being used as a modulation source.

I've never used an MG-1. But, last April, I attneded a presentation by APOLLO/LYRA, where he played the Voyager Performance Edition along side the MS-2000B. The 2000B has a wonderful sound, but I wouldn't be so quick to compare it to a Moog. Truth be told, there's a Pacific Ocean between analog and ...

I think that the thread was started for people who could compare either synth with a Minimoog, or Memorymoog, as far as the thickness of the sound. Makes sense to me.

Whatever its faults, that is a remarkable demo. I've never knowingly heard a Polymoog Demo. Real thick and juicy! Take a (cyber) bow, Boeing.

See if you can get within 1/2 meter of the damage zone. (Of course, you could've thought of that, already.)

You'll probably have to dig up your list, Boeing, but have you accounted for the possibility that the noise could be caused by some sort of internal short? Not unheard of, to be honest. And, maybe the case is warped.
