plugins forget interconnects whenever DAW crashes

whenever my DAW (max/msp) crashes, my moogerfooger plugins recreate their 4-character identifier, and forget their interconnects. Is this a problem with max/msp or with the plugins?

Not sure if this is the same thing but in logic, when I map plug-ins from the ERAE Touch control surface, they often don’t work and they are not persistent when I save them in a template and reopen it. As a control I have no problem when mapping to apple native plugins.
