Sending MIDI to modulate Filter, Osc, Env., etc.

Please, excuse my ignorance, but I have MIDI set up between my DAW (Live) and the Little Phatty. Right now I only send notes over channel 1, but I am trying to figure out if it's possible to send MIDI to the LP, in order to modulate the filter, oscillator, or envelope knobs. Can this be done via MIDI mapping? If so, how do I accomplish setting this up so that I can assign a MIDI channel in the DAW to manipulate these mappings? I am a beginner, so please, forgive my lack of knowledge.

Look into Live's "envelope" features. It's opened with a little "E" on the MIDI track in Session View (I think it's a dropdown arrow in arrangement view). From there you can select which CC you want to draw or edit. Because Live knows nothing about your instrument you'll have to consult the instrument's MIDI implementation to know which CC affects which synth parameter.

To draw envelopes, simply create nodes by clicking and move mouse to adjustment vertically (raise lower CC value) or horizontally (adjust CC timing). That's just a start. There are ways to adjust the curves, create looping envelopes and more.

evileye,

Thank you. I know about Live's E (envelope area), but I didn't know there was a CC assignment in there. I will look for that. Is there anything I need to configure in the LP settings? Or where can I refer to the CC#'s that I need to assign accordingly?
