It's the AC coupling that will indeed bite you, and why something like Expert Sleepers solution is necessary. The Volca software seems to be compatible only with MOTU interfaces (is that true?) which are fine interfaces indeed, but only if you have one!
*EDIT* I *do* have one, an older UltralLite. I may have to dedicate this as as controller for my 5U modular with the Volca interfacing to the DAW. Uh oh.

BTW, this feature is a gas 
one thing I did was hook an expression pedal to one of the inputs and mapped it to Filter Pole and used the pedal to give some unique character to a lead line. You could sort of do this by using the Random waveform against the Poles, but with the pedal it is more expressive, less accidental.
