Voyager osc CV in and audio out mods?

Post by Tibbon » Sun Dec 02, 2012 12:00 am

I love my Moog Voyager, but there's always been one thing that severely bothered me; I couldn't easily control the pitches of each oscillator individually. Sure, I could do some monkeying around with mapping the MOD1 and MOD2 inputs, but at best I could set the intervals from the primary Pitch input.

Also, everything was mixed together. I can get them mixed out from the pre-filter loop, but I'd love to have 3 individual outputs that I could patch to external VCAs or whatever.

It seems to me that there should be some way to mod the Voyager to allow this. Whatever the voltage is that's normally controlling the oscillators, just have that circuit broken when a cable is plugged into a CV input for it, and I should be able to find the pre-mix outputs from each oscillator to send to a patch point as well.

Has anyone done this? Any tips or points on the boards that are known? I can't find a schematic for the Voyager or this wouldn't be too hard at all.

Any reasons that this would definitely not work?

This is all a bit inspired by my drooling at the MicroMacs.
