LP Tribute knobs versus LP Stage knobs

Post by CTRLSHFT » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:08 pm

I heard on another forum that the LP Tribute's controls are switch-wired analog, unlike the Voyager/Stage's 14-bit quantized controls, but the LP Stage Editions are quantized like the Voyager's in order to keep costs down.

Can anybody substantiate this?

For what it's worth, I've owned all 3 and didn't really notice anything in the way of stepping w/ really slow sweeps, but I'm still interested in knowing if that's really the case or hearsay.

Me too! That's what freaked me out when I heard it. I've been going around touting that advantage over the Voyager for a while now, just wanted to fact check and make sure I'm not misinforming people.

Here's an old thread where Amos talks about the difference between the Tribute and Stage knobs. Perhaps it might answer some questions.

Thanks for the link, didn't know this was previously discussed.

Per the tech notes in the LP Stage manual...
"RAC provides responsive analog control for the Osc 1&2, Filter Cutoff, Filter Resonance, EG Amount, Overload and Filter EG Sustain parameters."

YAY! Really all I cared about was whether the cutoff was RAC or not, really glad to hear this.
