I'd love to see an expansion box from Moog similar to what Studio Electronics offers. Being able to build up to an 8 voice monster would be awesome! :D

You can start with a single voice and keep adding up to 8 voices (not cheap though!).

The monophony is what prevented me from getting the LP for a long time.
I know, the analog thing, the quality, ect... but it's still weird to lay down that much money for a monophonic synth in the XXIth...

Anyway, to get to the point, I agree with that polyphony box
It really baffles me that anyone would buy the same 1400 bucks synth AGAIN
They surely have their reasons, but it's beyond belief to me
If I had that money to spend, gee, I'd wait a little more and buy something ELSE to add to my sound arsenal, say a Prophet 08, or possibly an Origin
Now a reasonably priced polyphony expansion would be cool
I paid 1389€ for my LP, so I wouldn't pay more than 700€ for an expansion to get polyphony.

The phatty is very reasonably priced here in the states though I'd never purchase another one just to add an additional voice.

I don't know how Dave Smith brought the '08 in at under 2k but it's a price that no one else can match right now! Brilliant move on his part and a great sounding synth.

I'm not saying the LP is overpriced, otherwise I wouldn't had bought one!
But yeah, look at the Prophet 08 and then the Voyager, and I won't be wasting time discussing the various merits of both, just the basic fact : 8, like in EIGHT voices polyphony
And then you hear about OS updates that let you connect two Phattys to get a duophonic synth... it's kinda surreal, one has to admit

Well, to be fair, you'd really have to compare the '08 to the other 8 voice poly analogs currently on the market as well. The SE Omega's gonna cost you a cool 5K.

I actually think the '08 is very complimentary to the Phatty and am looking forward to getting one myself. That said, it will never replace the Phatty when it comes to gettin' that Moog love on a track!

I'd love to see some additional options for an expanded phatty but I do not expect it to be cheap.

Why? Because we could. :) That's all, really. And it does work with an LP connected to a Voyager, which is a little more likely...

Yeah that OS update was such an awesome surprise. The new mod options and pot mapping added so much. Not to mention it was free! :D

It's fun :) I did a few quick polyphonic examples with two Voyagers and a Little Phatty a week or so ago (check MoogSpace) along with some monophonic "patches" using all three midi'd together.

Now it's just my personal opinion of course
I know that I, if I had the money, would go for the Prophet 08 as a complimentary synth to the LP (or buy something else than the LP if I had a Voyager already)
Anyway I think we all agree that a reasonably priced polyphony box for the Moogs would be good, which is the subject here!

i really think monosynths just require of the user a different approach. i used to think if one is good, six is better, but really they're just not comparable. it's like a six string bass or a twelve string guitar. they have their applications, but they'll never make the standard bass or guitar obsolete.

and i know everybody knows that and it's still fun to fantasize about a poly moog. i just wanted to throw the guitar analogy into the mix.

depending on a price i would consider buying one,i keep going to play chords
also maybe if they included a larger rom with it,the limitations of the l.p,could be over come(more lfo's,more processing power).

No the Prophet 08 is all analog OSC, the Evolvers are 1/2 digital and analog. :)
