I've recently bought a Akai Tom Cat and have been trying to use midi to sync them. I don't know anything about midi but have realized the potential it has to make some crazy stuff mainly because of whats going on without my input. Basically when I set the Tom Cat to send midi out to the Sub37 the sub goes crazy and is more or less uncontrollable. It almost sounds like the sub 37 is taking in too much information from the drum machine and assigning tone values to each analog patch in the tom cat. I'm thinking this has something to do with which midi channel its on but I have tried out all of them and nothing seems to change. What I aim to do is have the tom cat control the tempo for the Sub37 so I can line up arpeggios and sequences.
Hope I gave enough info. I feel a little weird buying such an advanced synth without knowing much about midi. So any genral important info on midi functions of the sub37 would be appreciated too.
