Sub 37 Tuning

Post by WXLF » Tue Sep 08, 2015 7:37 pm

Hello all,

I just picked up a Sub 37 a couple of days ago at a local authorized dealer. It is my first analog synth and I am really enjoying it, but I have a beginners question about the tuning of an analog synthesizer.

I noticed the user manual states, "NOTE: Since this is an analog synthesizer based on 1 volt-per octave scaling, the extreme high and low ranges of the keyboard may play notes that are not perfectly in tune."

So my question is what defines "extreme"? As I am not entirely sure if the tuning of mine is normal.

Using an Init Preset and ableton's tuner, I have documented the tuning of the instrument relative to itself.

A#1: (2.7ct) - (2.9ct)
B1: (1.5ct) - (1.6ct)

C2: (2.3ct) - (2.5ct)
C#2: (1.9ct) - (3.0ct) <-- (i wonder why this one is less stable than the others)
D2: (1.3) - (1.5)
D#2: (0.9) - (1.1)
E2: (1.2) - (1.4)
F2: (0.4) - (0.7)
F2#: (0.6) - (0.9)
G2: (1.1) - (1.3)
G#2: (0.5) - (0.6)
A2: (0.5) - (0.7)
A2#: (1.2) - (1.3)
B2: (0.3) - (0.5)

C3: (0.8 ) - (1.0)
C#3: (0.8 ) - (0.9)
D3: (0.0) - (0.1)
D#3: (0.9) - (1.1)
E3: (-0.1) - (0.0)
F3: (0.4) - (0.7)
F#3: (0.7) - (0.9)
From G3 up to C5 it was consistent in being around 0.4 cents to 0.8 cents.

Does the above look normal? :)
So is C2 supposed to be the "extreme" point that they mention in the manual?
