I know there is requests in the firmware suggestions for a tempo display, but in the mean time...
I need to find a way to display/know what the actual tempo of the sub 37 is.
Typically in my electro project we do not sync together via midi for a variety of reasons. Instead we just set our tempos to the same and off we go looping and such with kaoss pads/electribes/drum machines etc. No computers involved. Live electro.
So as i explore and jam out with the sub, i am trying to see what the sub37 is doing tempo wise. I have tried running midi into my kaoss pad so it can tell me what the tempo is when synced up. But all i get form the kaoss is EXT - no tempo display - thanks Korg (it does sync up (sorta))
I tried running thru Logic, and found out it doesn't listen to MIDI Clock - just MTC. So i cant get logic to tell me what the tempo is as i explore the sub.
Any ideas or solutions?
I really hope an update will occur that will have the sub37 show its own tempo, about the only weak spot in it. I want it to be standalone, and not have to carry a computer around to know what it is doing...
Cheers

Mutable Instruments MIDIPal has a mode that will display this. Unfortunately, I believe they do not have any stock left and will not replenish it. Fortunately, if you are handy, there is a DIY version of it called MIDIBud here: http://midisizer.com/midibud/

If you have an iOS device you can try MidiBus. I don't have it but in the description says:
On the flipside, monitor the MIDI clock signals of apps and devices (including MidiBus itself) and measure how accurate and stable they really are. You might be very surprised at the results.
Maybe an easy way, but less accurate, is to install a metronome app in your phone with tap tempo function:
Metronome, Metronome: Tempo Lite...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see what i can dig up.
Hopefully this will all be solved with a firmware update sooner than later.

I wouldn't mind seeing this on the lcd as well. I don't really want to bring a computer or ipad/iphone into the loop to see it though.

A little off-topic but I have seen this video today about sync, MIDI Clock and Tempo detection. The app seems very promising.

+1
Needs to be displayed! Sometimes I don't want to clock sync, but need to match BPM.
