Static like noise turning overdrive knob on Slim Phatty

I've noticed when having sound coming out of the Slim Phatty (doesn't occur if no notes are played) and I turn the overdrive knob up and down that there is an intermittent static like noise that is audible. This doesn't appear to be part of the overdrive effect as it appears randomly at different knob increments. The effect is exaggerated if I turn the knob rapidly. I don't think this is normal but is it common with the Slim Phatty?

Try turning local off when using the slim with a sequencer, I used to have these noises when on, due to MIDI feedback loops.
