Update failure of firmware
Update failure of firmware
Just got the email with the Mac updates....followed the instructions to update the firmware. At step 6 I initiate the send, but no midi light blinks. C6 shows the sysx sending, when done nothing happens. LFO continues blinking and nothing else. Sub is dead in the water.

Re: Update failure of firmware
Same thing here. Guess because the v2 bootloader was already/previously updated in the Sub phatty.
If you send the firmware (SubPhatty_v294_2_0_3.syx) just after, it works but no automatic calibration. Did it manualy (under the hood procedure).

Re: Update failure of firmware
Fixed it....just sent the second file and rebooted.
Re: Update failure of firmware
Oh, and same as gencomprodukts, no auto calibration.
Re: Update failure of firmware
If you are already on firmware v2, you DO NOT need to update the bootloader.
Just send the main firmware update file only; you should be fine.
The auto-calibration only happened when updating from V1 to V2; there's no calibration change from v2 to v2.1, so no auto calibration needs to happen.

Re: Update failure of firmware
The documentation could be a lot clearer on this point. People who downloaded the zip with version 1.0.3 of the editor and firmware 2.0.1 are likely to just follow the instructions as written in the documentation, but apparently they should skip some steps.
I've updated my Sub Phatty Editor to 1.1.0 and sent the 2.0.3 firmware to my Sub Phatty, but the Sub Phatty Editor is still reporting firmware 2.0.1 when I click PREFS. What are the exact steps needed to get from firmware 2.0.1 to 2.0.3?
Also, the docs refer to SubPhatty_v293_2_0_3.syx, when it is in fact called SubPhatty_v294_2_0_3.syx.

I agree. I installed the original editor, and with it, V2. (that was a standard part of that, wasn't it?) i was going to just go step by step on the new instructions! I'm glad I checked here, but many users don't read these forums, or might miss this thread.

I agree too. It's unclear.

Re: Update failure of firmware
Looks like the instructions that were distributed were not the final draft. I apologize for the confusion that resulted!
I have updated the instructions and we will re-pack the download files with the new instructions.
The short version of the new instructions:
- if you're already on firmware v2, you can update directly to firmware v2.0.3. Here's how. [step by step instructions]
- if your Sub Phatty is serial# 2892 or below, and it's still on firmware v1 (you've never updated it), then contact [email protected] and they can send you the necessary bootloader update. Update the bootloader, then update the main firmware.
That should cover everyone.
