How can I stop Cutoff responding to aftertouch ?

Post by h4ndcrafted » Sun Jan 05, 2014 10:01 pm

Is there any way to set the value amount that cutoff responds to aftertouch ? and if not, how can I switch it off ? Quite annoying with my Ableton Push controller, as I like to have it sensitive, but when using with the Sub Phatty it adds modulation when I need a straight bass sound at times.

Thanks.

I also would like to know how to fix this problem. This is interrupting my workflow and changing the way my sub phatty sounds and it usually sounds quite nice. Please help.

Problem solved. How to turn off aftertouch is in the hidden shift features. I love this synth!

Do this:

1. Press bank 4 and Activate Panel button to enter Shift Mode
2. Select bank 2 and 4 buttons and program 1 and 3 buttons (all four lights must be on)
3. Press low C on the keyboard
4. Press Activate Panel button to exit Shift Mode

Aftertouch response should now be off.

Amos was kind enough to point me in the right direction on another forum. It is in preferences in the Editor too.

I missed it, I must be blind, it is last on the list in preferences for future ref.

Is there a MIDI CC I can use to toggle this on/off on a MIDI controller?

This 'aftertouch scale' setting is in the Sub Phatty Extended Parameter Editing infographic at http://www.moogconnect.net/downloads/su ... v1_1_4.pdf, but I couldn't find it in the manual and the infographic doesn't list MIDI CC numbers. I guess it was added in a later firmware update?

Figures........

I love my sub phatty but getting under the hood is a pain in ass.

I set up a MIDI controller to handle the secondary functions but they dont all correspond to a MIDI CC.....what a shame......

Thanks

Are you sure? Have you checked? Doesn't the Sub Phatty Editor software just send MIDI CC when pushing its buttons? I thought anything the software editor can do any other MIDI controller should be able to do as well.

The setting is hidden in the prefs sub screen, not in the main GUI.
Anyway, checked what happens when changing the setting, it is a sysex stream:
F0 04 06 23 18 00 xx 00 F7 with xx from 0 to 127, default 32 i guess.

As far as checking I've got my Sub Phatty Manual and it doesn't mention it in there, I thought maybe someone would know more here, which you guys do but I'd don't feel up to the challenge of learning about Sysex......sorry. maybe the info will become available if it does exist. Thanks
