Thanks for all the input! I did pick up a DeltaLab Effectron II for cheap and quite like the way it sounds. Will check some of these other recommendations from all of you as well.

Please keep us posted. Of course there are no right answers but I'm not sold on analog for delay, personally.

JRRShop has the Akai Headrush E2 on sale for $89 (if you have a JRRShop account - easy enough to create). A steal at that price.
