Problem with LP SEII firmware. Please help!
Problem with LP SEII firmware. Please help!
I turned on my LP and let it warm up, and when I began to play something odd happened. Regardless of what preset I used, the second I touched the mod wheel it would change the preset to "stage ii". then I noticed when I hit a key, a black arrow would flash on the screen. What is happening to my Little Phatty? I am extremely worried and would appreciate any helpful words. Please save my LP.

You could try restoring it to factory settings, but you will lose all your patches so back them up if you care about saving them.

Okay. I'm going to try restoring factory settings, but I'm going to first need to back up my patches. Could I get some instruction on how to do that?

Is it a midi loop?

MIDI loop: the midi out is accidentally routed back to the in
Does the behavior occur without anything connected to the midi in or out?

the black triangle indicates MIDI IN to the LP, so yes, I would say that if you see this each time you play a key, you have a MIDI loop.
There are several ways this can happen; usually it involves a computer DAW or sequencer, where you need to manage how the program routes MIDI in and out.
The two simplest "fixes" for this issue:
1) disconnect MIDI IN and/or OUT, see if the unit behaves normally then. If so, you just need to make sure your sequencer doesn't automatically echo all incoming MIDI back out, and you should be sorted.
2) Don't change anything on your sequencer. Go to LP MIDI SETUP menu, set LOCAL CONTROL to OFF. Do things work normally now? In this case you will need the sequencer running and echoing MIDI, you can't play the LP by itself with Local Off because in that context you are requiring that the LP MIDI output has to get piped back into the MIDI input. That's what Local Off is for, pretty much...
