Power Supplies Ratings

Post by Bryan B » Wed Apr 22, 2015 11:08 am

When I was plugging in my Foogers recently I noticed that I had 4 wall warts that were 400 mA and 4 that were 300 mA. I decided to look up the specs for each Fooger to match them with the proper supplies. Here are my notes to hopefully save somebody the time.

All Mooger Fooger standard power supplies are +9vDC center positive. The plus on the diagram should point to the middle pin and the minus should point to the ring around the outside. If there is no such diagram on your power supply, don't use it (or at least test it with a voltage tester to determine the polarity).

The bold is either what it said in the manual or what I am guessing based on the numbers I did find somewhere in each of the manuals.

The Delay is the only one that requires 400 mA and the rest are 300 mA.

MF-101 Lowpass Filter: +9vDC 300 mA +9 to +15vDC uses about 100mA
MF-102 Ringmod: +9vDC 300 mA +9 to +15vDC uses about 100mA
MF-103 Phaser: +9vDC 300 mA +9 to +15vDC uses about 100mA
MF-104M Delay: +9vDC 400 mA (+9vDC only)
MF-105M MuRF: +9vDC 300 mA (+9vDC only uses about 240mA)
MF-107 FreqBox: +9vDC 300 mA (+9vDC only uses about 200mA)
MF-108 ClusterFlux: +9vDC 300 mA (+9vDC only)
CP-251 Control Processor: +9vDC 300 mA (+9vDC to +12vDC uses about 100mA)

You can always use a power supply that is rated to deliver a higher mA. The mA rating is the maximum current output available before you strain the power supply.

Wall warts generally have higher voltages than they say. If a wallwart is labelled above 12vDC don't use it or you risk damaging your precious MoogerFooger! Some of the Fooger manuals say nothing over +9vDC, so I marked them as +9vDC only.
