MF-105 in stereo issue

Post by Megaman » Sat Dec 06, 2014 9:48 am

Hi

I am using my MF-105 to connect to 2 amplifiers. When the pedal is bypassed, I get sound only from one amp. Is this normal ? do I have a faulty unit ?

Thanks

Hi Megaman,

Stuka is correct; that is the normal behavior but...

There is an internal Mod that's simple to do that makes it behave the way you and I want.

It's been years since I did it (and my foogers are at work) but it involved putting a small blob of solder on top of two ciruit board pads, which connected them. The two pads were put there for that very purpose by Moog. If I remember correctly, newer 105Ms might even have a jumper there now; so you don't even have to use solder.

I'll open mine up tomorrow to get you better info.

When I asked them why it wasn't the default behavior, I believe they said that there was concern that the signal level would be slightly lower when split across the two outputs. I've never noticed it and have enjoyed my MIDIMuRF like that ever since.

(It's also possible that the non-M version doesn't have those solder pads. I'll ask.)

I found a picture of where the solder blob is supposed to go in order to have both of the MF-105M L+R Outputs work when in Bypass mode. PM me and I'll send the picture of the circuit board.
