Does the 'slew rate mod' improve the sound or not?

Post by goldphinga » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:49 pm

So im considering the slew rate mod, ive heard a few clips and im not sure if it still sounds like a voyager- im worried it changes the character of the voyager too much. I love the way the voyager sounds and have owned mine since new in 2014 (anniversary model)

I'd definitely like some more air in the tops and clarity though, more like my old source.

Can anyone who has had this mod done chime in? Is the bass end affected in anyway?

Many thanks!

The slew rate is changing the overall sound of the oscillators. You get more of the harmonics. The sound is beefed up. But you may have to change the cutoff of some of your sounds, as they might sound a bit to bright now. But once you lowered it a tin bit, you got a more classic vintage Moog sound.
Also all sound using FM are now way more the way I was expecting it to be. More overtones.

I never regret having the slew rate mod here.

Hmm, I have this little MG1 and I do prefer its raw oscillators. I may be interested in that slew rate mod.
Till, would you say the result you got with the intervention you performed yourself is closer from the starting point or from the full mod?
