Happy Anniversary from the SquareWave team! February marks the six month anniversary of our online Voyager support site. Many thanks to those who have been with us since the beginning, and to others who have contributed patches, tips, photos & links to SquareWave for all to share. We've come a long way in a short time, but the best news is that we're just getting started!

Congratulations to aaronezair, our 250th member!

SquareWave features hundreds of terrific Voyager patches, MP3 audio clips, performance advice, suggestions, member studio photos, and related links - and it's all free. Not a member yet? Go to:

Here's what's new in the February 2006 SquareWave

Our banner page photo is a beautiful maple Voyager AE owned by Mario Reithofer (TSAMM-Mario). Sweet! Thanks, Mario!

Voyager Patches:
SquareWave member AnalogDiehard (Moog Music Forum contributor MC) posted nineteen new Voyager patches, many with an accompanying text files describing the patch.

Marmaduke (LWG) posted his January Voyager patch "ARP Soloist Preset" along with patch notes. Thanks for the new sounds, guys!

Voyager FYI:
Up to now, the Voyager FYI section has been concerned with all-things-Voyager. This month we're branching out to include a terrific Moogerfooger compliment to the Voyager - the MF-102 Ring Modulator (RM). In "Lord of the Ring (Modulator)" we take a detailed look at the RM and show you how to make the most of it, with a special emphasis on using it with the Voyager. We explain how to scale the RM's carrier oscillator with a CV (creating a fourth Voyager oscillator), the octave doubling 'feature', using the RM as a VCA, oscillator waveshaping, and other cool tricks! (File: Lord of the RingMod.pdf)

Voyager Reference Pages:
There are four additions to the reference pages folder this month. First, we've included a PDF block diagram of the MF-102 Ring Modulator, showing the pedal circuit functions, internal signal routing and I/O configuration (File: Ring Modulator.pdf). This is a companion file to "Lord of the Ring (Modulator)".

Next, TheGlyph2000 posted the Rev 1 instructions for the Voyager OS 3.X self-install upgrade board (File: Voyager V3 Upgrade Install.pdf). These are the official Moog Music instructions for installing the board. Thinking about installing it yourself? Read about it here first!

Third, MC posted the Voyager System Exclusive Information document (File:VoyagerSysEx.pdf). This is a byte-by-byte listing of SysEx information for a single preset or a bank of presets. Helpful info for those MIDI Programmers among you!

Lastly: Got patches? If you've got the Voyager OS 3.X upgrade board, you've got over 700 of 'em in all six factory banks. But how to find a particular patch? Try our handy alphabetical listing to quickly locate it. Every factory patch from A to Z is listed, along with the bank location where each is found (File: Voyager OS3 Sound List.zip).

Monthly Mashup:
Keith, Rick, Wendy, Isao and Jan - all have had their signature sounds undergo sonic surgery for our monthly mashup. This time, we add Mr. Hancock's name to the list. We combined the 'Herby's D6' and 'Chameleon Bass' patches to create a patch called 'NuChameleon'. We hope HH would be proud of our efforts!

Links:
Catdogcat7915 posted a link to his song 'She's a Dancer' in the Song Links folder.

Site Map:
We've updated the site map to include all new offerings, making them easy to locate.

Again, we like to say 'thanks' to all who have contributed their patches, tips, photos & links to SquareWave. Your efforts help to make SquareWave "The Voyager Resource".

So I can use the Ring Modulator VCO as an extra oscillator for the Voyager?!? And it's in tune? That is WAY cool!

You guys are GREAT! Thanks for the info!
