Another newbie question....this time with Voyager in hand

Post by Beethree » Wed Mar 26, 2014 7:01 pm

Trying to program aftertouch to pitch bend up. I did this using the pot mapping, but this makes the default pitch lower. I want to be able to play at normal pitch and then pitch bend up with aftertouch. What am I missing?!

Wow this is a frustrating oversight if it can't readily be done. I can adjust the whole keyboard back to normal pitch using transpose, but that is at the master level and not the patch level, so then all patches that don't send pressure to pitch wheel are then sharp. Ugh...

Hi Beethree,
don't use the pot mapping for that situation.
The pot mapping is depending on the pitch bend offset.

Use the modulation busses instead:

Pedal Source = ON / MOD2
Pedal Destionation = Pitch
Pedal Shaping = Pressure
Pedal Amount = more than 20 or so

Have fun,
Rudi

Thanks, Rudi.
Unfortunately this gives me similar issues. With source set to on/mod2, destination set to pitch and shaping set to pressure, the amount knob directly affects pitch upwards. The pressure can affect it still more, but this does not allow me to play at concert pitch and bend upwards with pressure.

I can then set pressure to control pedal amount in pot mapping, but even 25% is too much.

OOH....I may have it.... need to use fixed value as one of the 2 PGM shapers. Will try later......

In case anyone is following my minor saga...The solution: Use pot mapping pressure --> pitch bend. But this lowers the base pitch. Compensate for this by setting pedal mod to "on" at an amount equal to the amount you need to get up to normal pitch.

All ears if someone has a tried and true method for accomplishing this in less kludgy fashion. But I will shut up until then!!

Hi Beethree,
I will fix this "pitch bend pot mapping" bug on the next software release.

If there was a "like" button I'd hit it. :)

Speaking of Pot Mapping, you might enjoy the article called "On the Map" on the KnobTweak site, which describes the Pot Mapping function and how it works. The article includes 11 examples of cool things that you can do with Pot Mapping.

Find it here:

KT > Files > Voyager >Pot Mapping.pdf

Enjoy!

Hi Beethree,
if you could test a version with the pot mapping pitch bend fix, please write an email to
rudi at moogmusic dot de.

You're welcome! Whist perusing the files on KT, don't forget to check out the Moogerfooger tips and tricks articles, too - lots of good info there.
