Programming question

Post by jrm1 » Mon Oct 14, 2013 9:58 am

I have this patch on my Voyager, Growing Lead (factory). If I keep a key pressed down and press a lower key, it jumps to the new note but if instead I press a higher key it doesn't jump to the new note. Can anyone tell me why?

Go to Edit Mode, find "Keyboard Modes" and change it to "Last Key" (I'm pretty sure it's in "Lower Key" mode right now).

Check the "Keyboard Mode" settings.

Keyboard mode can either be "Lower Key", "Higher Key", "Last Key", or "1 Key Only".

This is programmable per patch. This one, "Growing Lead", is obviously programmed with keyboard mode set to "Lower Key", which will give priority to the lowest key played.

You should also be aware of the "Trigger Mode", which offers "Single Trigger" or "Multi Trigger", which will select how the envelopes will behave. In single trigger mode, once a note has been depressed and is being held down, pressing another key will not re-trigger (re-open) the envelope.

A careful reading of the manual, in the "Edit Mode" section, will explain all this in detail.

Hope this helps.

Brilliant! Thanks for the explanation. Re manual my retailer still hasn't sent me one but it's true I should have scoured the PDF one! RTFM.

You're welcome.

Until you eventually receive your paperback copy, here's the link to the online one in pdf format (if you didn't have it already):

Thanks again. This synth is quite unbelievable! Starting to get to grips with using OSC 3 as modulation. So powerful. Such a well written manual.

There is also this "Voyager Training DVD" that has been uploaded to youtube featuring Brian Kehew:

This is a direct link to the playlist that includes all the 6 parts. Unfortunately, the audio quality is rather poor. But, hey, it's free.
