Mounting the VX-351 onto the MMV

Heeeeey!

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a VX-351 mounted parallel to an MMV, or has any bright ideas on how to get it done? The aim is to basically expand the MMV panel to the left, in a similar fashion to how it was 'done' on the XL. I guess alternatives could work, like, attaching it to the top.



Perhaps there's a mounting device (like an arm) that can be connected to the back of the Voyager, or the keyboard stand it rests on, and act as a 'top tier', but not the usual 2nd keyboard tier, as the VX needs to be locked tight, so patch cords can easily be fiddled with, without having to hold the VX.

Please note that the Voyager is studio-stationary, and does not travel. So irregular size modifications are not a problem.

Allow me to rephrase;
If one purchases a Voyager w/ a keyboard, and then decides to extend it w/ CV capabilities, using the VX-351. Where would one place the VX-351?

If you purchase the rack mounting kit, then you'll need something to fill the other half of the rack space (usually a 352 or a CP-251). Problem is, there's only one Accessory Port.

Well, the VX unit is about half the height of a MoogerFooger, your photoshop might be more realistic if you set the CP above the VX unit (or however you want) and attach them that way.

The VX rack system comes with a piece of wood that will connect the CP to the VX via a middle cheek piece because you have to remove one to get them mounted together. It also comes with a wiring harness to power the CP from the Voyager, but some have alleged that this results in extra noise.

I don't know if this helps or not but you may just be further ahead investing in a cheap tabletop rack frame and go that route.

One forum member had an RME, and connected a rack rail to it attaching the CP and vx above it, and it looked cool, but that might be harder to implement on a standard Voyager.

I would mount it above the panel, like on the modular systems, for easy access.

I would just buy the rackmount kit and a small rack and go that route.

Modding the MMV as in the photo would reduce the value of both pieces, IMHO.

About the single accessory port.... there's only one because you already have the CV inputs that would come with the VX-352.

Get a CP-251 to fill the other space in the rack. Skip trying to use the jumper cable because it is noisy and use the power supply from the CP-251 to power it.

I have my EB on an Ultimate stand and have a Raxxess rolling rack housing 6 Foogers and a VX-351/CP-251 right next to it.
