I'm almost 100% certain I'm going to get the slew rate mod done to my Voyager, along with a couple other things, when I go to Ashville. does anyone here have some sound demos of before and after the mod ? I know there was a post up a while ago with some demos but they are not active links any more.
thanks!

Where did you see this?

Edit:
Nevermind. Is this a RL thing or will Moog do it and what is it supposed to do?

Are you talking the filter glide mod?

Ashville does the filter glide mod.

RL does the slew rate mod to the VCOs.

Neither performs the other's mods.

I talked to moog and they are doing the slew rate mod for brighter oscillators

So, what is the theory behind that?

to me the left channel sounds brighter and more direct. some of the bass sounds seem to have lost some of that swirly phasiness though...so im not sure now argh!...maybe i should just a bbe sonic maximizer, its not the exact same thing, but it gives similar results to what ive heard and read.

I searched that link and saw myself a few years ago asking the same question about the mod.

I also wish there were side by side comparisons rather than simultaneous ones.

just take a mixer , 2 channels , both mono , use channel on/off , that should be a bit like side by side comparison maybe ?
( or use an waveeditor program, cut/ paste and create a side by side version... )
i don't have a normal/unmodded voyager anymore here, so i can't make new test.
indeed i also found the modded version to be more direct, and more bright. tne unmodded seemed to have more base, but when volume is little adapted , almost all the bass comes back, with the extra ability of filtering the better mid/high range. overall the sound is "more differentiated, less muddy" with the modification.
i never regretted it, but anybody has to make a choice to it's taste afcourse.
succes !

Do you think its changed the low end in any way?

it does i think,
however the overall sound gets more direct in the face, and with some tweaking you can get good bass out of it.
the " muddiness" is swapped for "directness", which is different indeed. i think it gets more the character of the multimoog/ micromoog or even minimooglike. i never regreted it always thought the original voyager has something " holding back " in the sound, never hurting enough to me when wished, a bit too beautiful too little raw. but afcourse it's personal
