Polychaining over USB midi?
I didn't post this in the Phatty or Minitaur sections, because it's more general of a question. I understand the setup of polychaining from a menu standpoint, but it's the physical connections that I need clarification. I have a Sub37 as my master (poly 1) and want to add a pair of minitaurs. Can I polychain over USB midi, or only over 5 pin DIN midi?

You could probably do it over USB, but you'll have to use a MIDI router on your PC (like MIDI-OX) to tell your computer to route the USB MIDI signals from the Sub to the Minitaurs.
Little Phatty Solar CV, Minitaur, Slim Phatty (x2), MF-101, MF-102, MF-103, MF-104M, MF-105M, MF-108M, CP-251 (x2), Animoog app, Filtatron app, Model D app, Model 15 app...and some 5U modular and Doepfer stuff...

I'm running ableton live, so that is taken care of.Stuka wrote:You could probably do it over USB, but you'll have to use a MIDI router on your PC (like MIDI-OX) to tell your computer to route the USB MIDI signals from the Sub to the Minitaurs.

Re: Polychaining over USB midi?
Confirmed tonight. USB midi works for polychaining. I'm currently set up for 3 voices, Sub37 and two Minitaurs. I have watched just about every video on polychaining on youtube, prior to getting the minitaurs in the mail. Every time I watched this clip, i thought to myself "what a moron this guy must be, to make such dumb facial expressions"

Tonight once I got the minitaur vst running and got everything setup, I'm pretty sure I made that exact same face when I hit that first chord. Fantastic work Moog. The only way to make excellent gear better, is to make it work seamlessly with each other.

Glad you got the poly chain working!!
Yeah, pretty sure I had a similar look on my face the first time I got my Little/Slim Phatty poly chain operational...

And the surprising forethought by moog (although it shouldn't be surprising... It's Moog) that all of the sub37 knobs would transmit the same data that the Minitaur does, so the filter controls ALL of the filters. Brilliant. I knew it would do that if you were using all of the same model, but in a mix and match situation? Genius. And in the case of the dedicated Release knob on the sub37, controlling the release on the Minitaur, which has no dedicated knob.... Just perfect.Stuka wrote:Cool -
