Re: Voyager Sys Ex Data Format Changed?
Aha! That explains it perfectly. For the record, I started out by backing up preset dumps with my DAW projects but later realized that panel dumps are more flexible and reliable, especially when working with projects that have one or more Voyager overdubs. For example, the way Cubase forces all of m...

Voyager Sys Ex Data Format Changed?
Why would my Voyager's sysex data format change? Today, I discovered that my Voyager isn't responding to panel sounds I recorded (Master > Send Panel Sound) a few months ago. So, I re-recorded one of the same panel sounds and compared the two sysex dumps - they're quite different! For starters, the ...

Re: Newb Voyager Programming Question
Oh crap, I really am a newb. It turns out the oscillators weren't just disabled - their levels were also zeroed out.
Uh... Never mind.

Re: Newb Voyager Programming Question
Thanks guys. I understand self-oscillating filters but still don't understand what's preventing Voyager's oscillators from producing sound. To my knowledge, it isn't an either/or proposition - at least, not in other synths. So, maybe I should ask this instead: If I wanted to 'undo' this in a Voyager...

Newb Voyager Programming Question
I'm stumped by some of Voyager's presets (e.g., A53 - Kick in the Sub, E56 - Stereo Zaps) . If you turn all the oscillators off (or on) , it has no effect on the timbre. Same with pretty much all front panel controls except the Filters and Envelopes sections. I've tweaked every control and perused t...

Re: Need Tuning Help
Thank you. That's very helpful. So, the range of a Voyager keyboard is actually F3 (MIDI note #53) to C8 (MIDI note #96), and if we start following those instructions for Osc 1 at Octave 8', the Voyager's lowest E key (E4 / MIDI note #64) should be tuned to 164.81 Hz. Got it. Unfortunately, that did...

Re: Need Tuning Help
After some trial-and-error, I've come to the conclusion that MIDI note #93 (5Dh) is correct. I didn't think to realize Voyager has a "middle C" of its own. So, if I have this right, Voyager's keyboard maps to the topmost keys of an 88-note MIDI keyboard controller. That is, C8 is th...

Need Tuning Help
Hi all, I'm tuning my Voyager RME for the first time, using instructions I found on Gearslutz and, more recently (and presumably, more accurately), here. All of the instructions I'm reading assume a Voyager keyboard edition is used (not an RME) and speak of tuning the oscillators to the "lowest...

RME Insert and Normalled Patchbay
Hi all, I'm racking my RME and want access to the Mix-Out Loop. If I connect a standard insert cable from the RME's "Mixer Out / Filter In" port to a normalled, balanced (TRS) patchbay, will everything work okay? That is, will the insert cable and patchbay function as a loopback when no ou...
